In addition to having what may be the most expensive work on sale at Art Basel in Miami Beach — his sculpture “Baroque Egg With Bow (Turquoise/Magenta)” in Gagosian‘s booth — Jeff Koons is on the scene at today’s VIP preview. When we spotted him he was spending a long time chatting with dealer David Nolan — whose Chelsea gallery is located a half-block from the Koons studio complex — and browsing the works in his booth.

Koons may be best known as a collector for his Old Masters holdings, but he spent a long time eying a pair of untitled Jim Nutt portrait drawings from 2012 (below), both of which are priced at $35,000, and even took pictures of them with his phone. He also lingered over works by David Hartt and Mel Kendrick.
